SUN DEVIL DATA: Was of the top junior college recruits in the nation in spring of 2004. Listed by SLAM as a top-10 junior college player in the nation entering 2004-05. Was third in the California Community College Association in scoring (23.8 points per game) and assists (7.6) in his sophomore season (2003-2004). Led his team to a 66-5 record in his two years at Fresno C.C. with a state runner-up finish in 2003 and two Central Valley Conference titles. Coached at Clovis West and at Fresno City College by Vance Walberg and was a high school teammate of two-time All-Pac-10 selection Chris Hernandez of Stanford. Jackson's Clovis West team posted 134 wins in his three years.
SENIOR SEASON (2005-06): Earned start on Senior Day on March 4 vs. Washington State and had 12 points in 30 minutes, including two three-pointers...had four double-digit scoring games on the year, including a career-high 15 against Utah Valley State on Dec. 10...career-high nine assists vs. USC on Jan. 5...averaged 21.0 minutes per game in senior season after averaging 15.1 minutes per game last year.
JUNIOR SEASON (2004-2005): Averaged 16.8 minutes in the final 13 games and had 41 assists and just 13 turnovers in that time, including a career-high six on Feb. 5 vs. California...posted nine points at Washington State on Feb. 26 and had eight points at Oregon (Jan. 22) and vs. Stanford (Feb. 3)...was 21-of-29 (.724) from the free throw line in the final 13 games to go along with 12 steals.
FRESNO CITY COLLEGE: Led the team in scoring (23.8 points per game), rebounds (6.4), assists (7.6) and steals (3.8) in his senior year and was a two-time all-state player and two-time Central Valley Conference Player of the Year...broke Lonnie Hughley's 40-year old Fresno City College career scoring mark with 1,541 points in 69 games, a 22.3 points per game mark...shared state player of the year honors with two sophomores and current Division I players in his freshman year, Tyrone Riley of the University of San Francisco and Jeremiah Massey of Kansas State...also is the school's all-time assists leader with 493 (7.1 per game)...totaled 423 rebounds (6.1 per game), 271 steals (3.9 per game) and 129 blocks (1.9 per game) in his 69 career games...career-high was a 50-point outburst against Modesto Junior College in a 120-90 victory on Jan. 21, 2004.
CLOVIS WEST HIGH SCHOOL: A 2001 graduate of Clovis West High School in Fresno, Calif....earned three letters in basketball and was team captain for two years...an all-conference and all-city selection and averaged 18 points per game, including a 38-point game in his senior year...team went 31-3 in senior year and 39-3 in junior year and was ranked 12th nationally in senior year and ninth in junior season and topped both Dominguez and Mater Dei...team won 134 games in three years.
ETC: Full name is Tyrone Marqus Jackson...plans to teach and coach when his playing days are over...family includes younger siblings Mercedes, Dejon, Martica, Jazz, Justin, Sebastian and Gabriel.
