TEMPE, Ariz. - Bobby Lazor scored 25 points to lead five players in double figures as Arizona State beat Eastern Michigan 102-90 Sunday night in the championship game of the Tribune Classic.
Eddie House scored 24 points, Mike Batiste had 18, Jeremy Veal added 15 and Jason Patton scored 10 points for the Sun Devils (10-3), who won their ninth consecutive home game and won the tournament for the first time in three years.
Arizona State's 10 victories equals their win total from last season.
Derrick Dial scored 31 of his tournament- and arena-record 42 points in the second half for the Eagles (5-4), who saw their three-game winning streak snapped.
Earl Boykins had 19 points and James Head added 12 for Eastern Michigan.
The Eagles trimmed Arizona State's 12-point halftime lead to 72-68 on Dial's short jump shot with 8:57 remaining.
But Lazor hit a basket and a free throw for a three-point play, and the Sun Devils took advantage of a technical on Eagles coach Milton Barnes as they outscored Eastern Michigan 10-2 over the next 3:32 to take a 82-70 lead.
