2003 (Senior): Led the Sun Devils with 10 wins and also with six losses... named to Tempe Regional All-Tournament Team with 6.1 shutout innings against New Mexico State... was 10-6 with a 4.68 ERA in his only year as a Sun Devil... transferred to ASU from New Orleans, but played prep and junior college baseball in the Valley... led the team and ranked second in the Pac-10 with 105 strikeouts... finished 31st in the NCAA with 10.2 strikeouts per nine innings pitched... also ranked ninth in the Pac-10 in innings pitched (92.1), third in opposing batting average (.254) and third in wins (10)... made 26 pitching appearances with 10 starts... went 5-4 with a 4.24 ERA as a starter and 5-2 with a 4.21 ERA out of the bullpen... struck out season and career high 10 in 5.1 innings against UCLA (4/17)... had seven games with seven or more strikeouts... pitched four scoreless innings against Wichita State (3/18) with seven strikeouts to earn the win... recorded first win as a Sun Devil with nine strikeouts in 4.2 innings of relief against Hawaii-Hilo (1/17)... in that gme he struck out eight straight batters for the second most in ASU history... drafted in the third round (84th overall) by the Boston Red Sox in the 2003 MLB Amateur Draft... signed with the Red Sox for a $250,000 bonus and made his professional debut with the Lowell Spinners (NY-Penn League).
New Orleans (2002): Played one year at the University of New Orleans after transferring from South Mountain CC in Phoenix... made 14 appearances for the Privateers with all coming out of the bullpen... was 1-0 with a 8.84 ERA in 19.1 innings pitched... struck out 23 batters and gave up 26 hits... coached by Randy Bush as UNO finished the season 31-28 and 12-12 in the Sun Belt Conference.
South Mountain CC (2001): Played for former Sun Devil George Lopez at SMCC... was teammates at SMCC with current Sun Devils Mike Guerrero and Josh Perrault... played for Phoenix College as a DH and pitcher in 2000.
High School: A 1999 graduate of Mountain Ridge High School in Glendale, Ariz... attended the same high school as current Sun Devil pitcher Jered Liebeck and former outfielder Chris Duffy... played three years of baseball and three years of football... was the starting quarterback for Mountain Ridge and earned all-region his senior year... coached in baseball by Tony Chiarelli and on the gridiron by Jim Ewan ... earned baseball all-region honorable mention as a sophomore and all-region his junior and senior years.
MLB Draft: Selected in the 39th round of the 1999 MLB draft by the Minnesota Twins.
