Current Devils Top Alumni 11-6 at Packard
TEMPE, Ariz. -- The 1998 Sun Devil baseball team defeated the ASU Alumni 11-6 today at Packard Stadium in front of 1,227 fans.
Leading the way for the Devils was senior right fielder Mikel Moreno. Moreno went 3-for-4 including two triples and scored four runs. Junior catcher Greg Halvorson chipped in two hits including a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth. Senior Richy Leon also chipped in a home run for the Devils.
For the alumni, Dan McKinley (1995-97) continued where he left off as a Sun Devil with a perfect 3-for-3 outing including a home run in the top of the seventh. McKinley also scored two runs and had one RBI. Dan Rumsey (1986-89) went one-for-three with two RBI and one run scored.
The Devils open the 1998 season this Thursday, January 22 in the Louisville Slugger Classic. The fifth-ranked Sun Devils host Cal-State Northridge at 7 p.m. at Packard Stadium. The Louisville Slugger Classic will run Thursday, January 22 through January 24.
