ASU Soccer Inks Distinguished Player
TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona State women's soccer program has signed local standout Stacey Tullock to study and play soccer, Head Coach Terri Patraw announced Wednesday.
Tullock, one of the most highly sought after players in the country, initially signed a full-ride scholarship with the University Notre Dame, but decided to attend Arizona State instead.
"Stacey is as talented a player as they come," said Patraw. "She is such a dynamic player to have on the team. She will do great things in the future for our program."
Tullock, a two-time team captain at Thunderbird High School in Phoenix, garnered 4A Player of the Year honors, as well as earning all-state MVP status in 1997. She was also selected to the all-state and all-region first-teams.
Among her many other accomplishments, Tullock set the Thunderbird school record for goals scored in one season with 65. At the 1997 state cup final, Tullock again showed her dominance by scoring all three of the team's goals as they won 3-0.
Tullock will redshirt the 1997 season, but will have four years of eligibility remaining.
Arizona State is currently 4-1 overall, 1-0 in the Pac-10 and will start a six game homestand this Friday beginning with UTEP, at 7 p.m.
