Softball Has Four Named Academic All-District

Offical Release and All Teams

TEMPE, Ariz. - The 2012 Capital One Academic All-District Softball Team was released Thursday morning by the College Sports Information Directors of America, which includes four Arizona State softball student-athletes.

Hillary Bach (P), Katelyn Boyd (INF), Annie Lockwood (OF) and Bailey Wigness (DP) all received First Team distinction.   

First-Team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first, second and third team All-America honorees will be selected later in May.

This is the first appearance on the team for Lockwood and Wigness. Bach was named to the 2010 First Team while Boyd has now made her third appearance on the All-District First Team (2012, 2011, 2010). She earned All-America status last year after being named to the Academic All-America Third Team. Boyd is one of 10 softball student-athletes to earn Academic All-America status dating back to 1964.
