All-American Cako Earns Second-Team All-Pac-12 Honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.—Sophomore Jacqueline Cako was named to the All-Pac-12 second team, the Conference announced Friday. The all-conference honors are decided in a vote of the league’s 11 coaches.

Cako, a sophomore from Brier, Wash., earned her second-consecutive second-team honor from the conference. In her two years at ASU, Cako holds a combined 39-9 record and has been named a two-time NCAA All-American.

In the fall, Cako made it to the finals of the ITA All-American Championships and earning runner-up honors after a hard-fought three-set battle against Florida’s Allie Will. In the tournament, Cako defeated a string of top-ranked players including reining NCAA Singles Champion and then No. 1-ranked Jana Juricova of California in the quarterfinals.

Cako competes in the 2012 NCAA Singles Championship, May 23-28 in Athens, Ga. The sophomore was named a top-16 seed for the tournament, earning All-American honors for the second-straight season.
