Men's Golf to Compete in Wyoming Cowboy Classic

April 9, 2012

Scottsdale, Ariz. -

The Arizona State men's golf team will compete in the Tenth Annual University of Wyoming Cowboy Classic hosted locally at the Taking Stick Golf Club, in Scottsdale, Ariz. The event will see competition from Pac-12 and in state rival University of Arizona, as well as Gonzaga, San Diego and Texas Tech.

ASU last won the classic in 2003, and is looking to compete again this year on the par 70 course. The field will play two rounds of 18 holes on Monday, and one final round of 18 holes on Tuesday.

The Sun Devils are led by freshman Austin Quick, who is coming off a second place finish at the locally held Thunderbird Invitational. Quick finished 7-under 206, falling two strokes shy of the leader Derek Ernst of UNLV at 9-under 204.

"Ausin (Quick) is playing very well and has put together a very good freshman season with some more tournaments to play," head coach Tim Mickelson said.

Both days will begin at 7:30 a.m. PT with a shotgun start. Be sure to follow the Arizona State Men's Golf team on Facebook, as well as at thesundevils.com
