Gymnastics Places Five on Pac-12 All-Academic Team

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--The Arizona State women's gymnastics team had five student-athletes named to the Pacific-12 All-Academic team, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today.

Senior Kahoku Palafox and graduate Callie Price earned first-team honors for the Sun Devils. Palafox, a bar and beam specialist for ASU, holds a 3.72 GPA in Sustainability. The Hawai'i native plans to pursue a graduate degree at Arizona State while competing as a fifth-year senior for the Gym Devils. Price, currently earning a graduate degree, holds a 3.92 in Exercise and Wellness. The Phoenix native is planning on attending physician's assistance school after her gymnastics career is finished. Palafox is earning her third-consecutive first-team Pac-12 All-Academic award, while Price earns her second first team honor in addition to a second team honor in 2010.

Senior Amanda Davies and junior Amelia Rew earned second team honors. Davies, a Exercise and Wellness major, holds a 3.41 GPA, while Rew, a member of the Barrett Honors College, holds a 3.57 GPA in Bioscience. Senior Beaté Jones also made the list, earning Pac-12 honorable mention honors for her graduate work in Liberal Studies.
