Ojai, Calif. - Arizona State sophomore Leighann Sahagun will represent the ASU women's tennis team in the Pac-12 Singles Invitational semifinals on Saturday April 28 in Ojai, Calif.
Sahagun handidly defeated Lana Buttner of the University of Oregon in the Round of 16, 6-3, 6-4 earlier in the first matchup of the afternoon. That win secured a spot in the Quarterfinals against Natasha Smith.
And after defeating Natasha Smith of the University of Utah 7-6 (2), 7-6 (0), the eighth seeded Sun Devil will advance to the Singles Invitational semifinals to compete against sixth seeded Valeria Pulido of USC on Saturday afternoon at 10:30 a.m.
Freshman Joanna Smith also competed earlier this afternoon after defeating Ashley Tiefel of Colorado 6-1, 6-1 on Friday afternoon.
The Sun Devil suffered an injury and was forced to forfeit the match under a walk out against seventh seeded Carlotte Koning in the Quarterfinals.
The freshman sophomore pairing was able to secure a win in doubles play as well, defeating Sarah Pham and Sammie Watson of Utah 9-7 Friday morning.
