Bach and Boyd Earn Pac-12 Softball Weekly Honors

March 6, 2012

TEMPE, Ariz. – Fifth-ranked Arizona State softball saw Hillary Bach and Katelyn Boyd named the Pac-12 Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, as released by the conference office Tuesday afternoon. The pair becomes the program’s 64th and 65th athletes to receive a conference nod.

Hillary Bach pitched her first career perfect game against Wichita State in a 9-0 (5) victory last Saturday, becoming just the fifth pitcher to ever accomplish the feat at ASU.

Over the weekend the senior ace held batters to a .143 batting average in two wins, improving her record to 8-0 with a 0.30 ERA on the year. She now ranks fifth all-time at ASU in career wins with 74.

Katelyn Boyd hit at a .625 clip for a 1.250 slugging percentage and no strikeout over six games. She began the week with a bang, hitting two homers against Wichita State (2-for-2, three runs scored and three RBI) and ended the six-game weekend with a walk-off homer against Creighton in extra innings.

Her weekly stat line saw her tops on the squad with 10 hits, three home runs, eight RBI, 20 total bases and six walks. Boyd’s perfect 4-for-4 on stolen bases made her third all-time at ASU for her career with 70, seventh in hits (242), third in RBI (195) and holds steady at third in homers with 51.

The senior duo will lead the No. 5 Sun Devils against Creighton this Tuesday, March 6, at 7 p.m. Live stats are available here
