Hannah James Named Pac-10 Women's Tennis Player of the Week

March 22, 2011

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Arizona State sophomore Hannah James have been named Pac-10 Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for Mar. 14-Mar. 20, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today.

A week after clinching the deciding match in ASU's upset victory over then-seventh ranked Cal, ASU’s James once again played a key role in the Sun Devils come-from-behind victory over ninth ranked USC on the road. Down 0-3, Arizona State rallied back with the entire match riding on the outcome of the match-up between James and USC's Alison Ramos.

The Birmingham, England, native took the first set 7-5, only to drop the second set 2-6. With the weight of the entire meet on her shoulders, James took the third set 6-4 to clinch the victory for ASU. The sophomore had previously triumphed in a similar scenario again Cal, beating Tayler Davis 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 to give ASU the victory.

The weekly honor is the first for James and the 10th all-time selection for the Sun Devils.
