No. 21 Women's Tennis Faces Ninth-Ranked USC

LOS ANGELES, Calif.—The No. 21 Arizona State women’s tennis team (9-3, 3-0 Pac-10) travels to Los Angeles, Calif. to take on the ninth-ranked USC Trojans on Wednesday, March 16. The Sun Devils are currently undefeated in the Pac-10 Conference, playing their first match then their upset of then seventh-ranked Cal.

Freshman Jacqueline Cako, who will look to defend her 15-match singles winning streak, jumped into the top-20 in the singles rankings to 16th. Cako was previously ranked 30th in the nation by ITA.

Senior Kelcy McKenna continues to hold the No. 17 ranking in the nation. McKenna took fourth-ranked Jana Juricova of Cal to three sets including battling to a score of 5-5 in the third set before Juricova won the next two games to take the match.

The USC line-up features the current No. 1 ranked player in the nation Maria Sanchez. With only one loss on the season, Cako played Sanchez to three sets when the two faced off in October at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships. Cako dropped the match, 3-6, 6-2, 7-5.
