PHOENIX, Ariz. - Colin Curtis, who starred for ASU from 2004 to 2006, became the 94th Sun Devil to play Major League Baseball when he made his debut on Monday night at Chase Field in Phoenix for the New York Yankees.
Curtis pinch hit for the Yankees against the Diamondbacks in the top of the fifth inning. He was a First Team All-Pac-10 pick in 2006 and was named to the 2005 All-College World Series Team.
The Issaquah (Wash.) High School product started all 182 games in his ASU career, hitting .328 with 13 homers and 135 RBI. He also stole 50 bases in his career.
Curtis becomes the third former Sun Devil to make his MLB debut in 2010, joining Mike Leake (Cincinnati Reds) and Ike Davis (New York Mets).
