Complete Florida Super Regional Release in PDF Format
The Sun Devil Softball squad (44-15 overall, 3-0 Postseason) kicked the door open on the program's 24th trip to the postseason last weekend with three-game sweep of the Amherst Regional. The next stop? Gainesville, Fla. where the fourth-seeded Florida Gators are chomping at the bit in anticipation of this weekend's match-up. The Sun Devils and Gators will lock horns this weekend on Saturday, May 29 at 7:30 p.m. ET and again on Sunday, May 30 with game two starting at 1 or 3:30 p.m. All games will be aired on ESPN or ESPNU.
Series History
In the long history of ASU Softball, their dalliances with the Gators have been few as they've only matched-up against UF three times since 1998. In that time ASU has taken the 2-1 lead in the series, though the only time Clint Myers has seen the Gators in his tenure was the sole loss ASU has to UF, taking an 8-2 loss last season in the Palm Springs Classic where they held the lead through most of the game before UF took advantage of an error and blew the doors open.
Up Next
Should the Sun Devils emerge as the victor of the Gainesville Super Regional, they'd head to Oklahoma City to make their fifth consecutive WCWS appearance. But not without fighting those fiesty Gators off first!
