Not only can he hit big putts and lead late rallies, but Sun Devil senior men's golf Knut Borsheim is getting it done in the classroom. Borsheim was recently named to the 2010 All-Academic District 8 At-Large Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced.

Borsheim joins women's golf team members Carlota Ciganda and Juliana Murcia and divers Elina Eggers and Constantin Blaha on the team.

Borsheim has a 72.78 stroke average through 12 events this year as the Sun Devils prepare for the NCAA Championships held June 1-6 at The Honors Course in Chattanooga, Tenn. He will end his career playing in 44 events, as he has a 72.98 stroke average entering the final event of his career.

Borsheim's best outing this year was at the NCAA Ping/Golfweek Preview in September, as he finished tied for sixth with a 4-over 220 (76-72-72). He helped lead ASU to the championship of Illinois Invitational in the first tournament of the year on Sept. 18-19 as he shot a 68 in the second round, his second-best round of the year. He also tied for tenth at the Pac-10 Championships.

The Pac-10 was well-represented on the COSIDA squad, as 20 athletes were named to the squad.

Nominations and voting for the All-America programs are conducted by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America. To be nominated, a student-athlete must have at least a cumulative GPA of 3.3 and be a sophomore academically. The student-athletes placed on the All-District first teams are placed on the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
