Later this year ASU and Wisconsin will be meeting in football for the first time in more than 40 years. With that in mind it seemed like an appropriate time to revisit the last time the Sun Devils and Badgers got together: Sept. 21, 1968.
Before getting to the photos, first a little bit of background about the contest which the Sun Devils won 55-7... The game was the 1968 season opener. The Sun Devils were coming off an 8-2 record under head coach Frank Kush, who was entering his 11th season. The game was Kush's 101st as head coach of the Sun Devils after compiling a remarkable 73-26-1 record (.737 win percentage) in his first 100 games.
Wisconsin had a tough 0-9-1 season in 1967. Included in the nine losses was a season-opening 42-16 defeat at the hands of the Sun Devils in Madison.
Fast forward to 1968 and the Badgers were about to become the first ever Big Ten team to visit Tempe, playing before a (then) Sun Devil Stadium record crowd of 43,317.
