The No. 21 Arizona State women's tennis team will head to the City of Angels for two key Pac-10 matchups this weekend. The Sun Devils will take on No. 17 USC on Friday at 1:30 p.m. PT and No. 8 UCLA on Saturday at noon. The Sun Devils are currently 12-3 overall with a 4-1 Pac-10 record.
Two Upsets
The Whiteman Tennis Center has seen the Sun Devils achieve two major upsets this season. In a non-conference match USC, it all came down to the last match as Kelcy McKenna clinched the match on court three as the Sun Devils upset then No. 13 USC. Nadia Abdala made her Senior Day a special one, as she clinched the Sun Devils' win over No. 10 Cal at the team's last home match of the season.
Crickey Brycki!
Michelle Brycki has had the polar opposite of a sophomore slump, as she has been a dominant force this season on court five. Brycki was out for the very beginning of the spring season with a minor injury, but has shown no signs of any repercussions The Sydney, Australia native has been flawless in dual matches as she currently sports an 11-0 record in dual matches.
Pac-10's Finest
Two members o the ASU team were selected as Pac-10 Player of the Week earlier in the season. Micaela Hein was awarded after helping aid the Sun Devils to a 2-0 conference start with their sweep over the Washington schools. McKenna's upset win over then No. 22 Danielle Lao to put the Sun Devils on to of then-No. 13 USC was acknowledged by the Pac-10.
Next Up
The Sun Devils head down the I-10 to Tucson for their final dual of the season next weekend. The team will take on their in-state rival Arizona on Saturday, April 17 at 1:00 p.m.
