McKenna Named Pac-10 Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - ARIZONA STATE junior Kelcy McKenna has been named Pac-10 Women's Tennis Player of the Week for March 8-14, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today. This is the second straight week a Sun Devil has been named Player of the Week as Micaela Hein was honored previously.

McKenna of North Bend, Ore., led the Sun Devils to three wins last week, including a 4-3 upset over No. 13 USC. In 7-0 wins over both Memphis and Oregon, the All-American won in straight sets defeating Marjorie Ondeck of Memphis (6-1, 6-0) and Pavlina Smatove of Oregon (6-3, 6-3). Against the Trojans and the match tied at 3-3, McKenna defeated No. 22 Danielle Lao 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 at the No. 3 singles position. With the win, ASU improved to 9-2 on the season.

This marks the second-career weekly honor for McKenna and the eighth all-time Pac-10 Player of the Week selection for the Arizona State women.
