LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Mitch Jones became the 91st former Sun Devil to play Major League Baseball when he made his debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers in a game against the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday.
Jones becomes the first former ASU player to make his Major League debut this season, serving as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning of the Dodgers' 5-4 victory.
Jones played at ASU from 1999 to 2000, hitting 3.48 with 38 home runs and 131 RBI. He set the school's single-season record with 27 home runs in 2000, when he was a First-Team All-American and First-Team All-Pac-10 selection.
He hit 21 home runs and had 50 RBI in 55 games this season with the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes before his promotion to the big leagues.
