Golfer Munoz Named to ESPN the Magazine First-Team Academic All-District VIII Honors

Arizona State senior golfer Azahara Munoz has been awarded with ESPN The Magazine First-Team Academic All-District VIII honors. Munoz recently graduated from ASU with a 3.96 in psychology.

Munoz helped lead the Sun Devils to their seventh NCAA Championship. The senior capped her stellar collegiate career by tying for fourth at the NCAA Championships. She has been ranked in the top five in both the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings and the Golf Stat Cup throughout the season. Munoz recorded eight top 20 appearances this season, including seven in the top 10. She finished the season with a stroke average of 71.72. Munoz is a four time All-American and the 2008 NCAA Individual Champion.

Academically speaking, Munoz became the double winner of the Edith Cummings Munson Award. The award is given at the NGCA Banquet to the All-American with the highest GPA. She is a three-time NGCA Academic All-American and a two-time Pac-10 All-Academic honoree. Last season, Munoz not only received All-District academic honors from ESPN the Magazine, but All-American accolades as well.
