ASU Student Athletes of the Month Announced

May 1, 2008

James Harden of the men's basketball team and Sarah Reaves of the volleyball team have been named Student-Athletes of the Month, the Office of Student-Athlete Development announced Thursday.

Harden, a freshman, had an outstanding first year at ASU both on the court and in the classroom.

He averaged a team-high 17.8 points per game to lead the Sun Devil men's basketball team to a 21-13 season, and he earned first-team All-Pac-10 honors.

That same dedication, commitment and accountability he showed on the court proved valuable in the classroom, as he finished his first semester with a 3.0 GPA and is on track to finish the year at the same level.

He has shown he can be a leader on the court and in the classroom, and he will look to build on that as a sophomore next year.

Reaves also enjoyed a standout freshman year as a Sun Devil, making tremendous strides as both a student and an athlete.

She earned a starting spot at outside hitter this past season, and she ended up leading the team with 418 kills.

Reaves brought the same energy and commitment to her studies, as she is on track to finish this semester with a 4.0 GPA.

She keeps a positive outlook on everything she does, and she appears to have a great future ahead of her both in the classroom and in her sport.
