No. 14 Women's Tennis Heads to the City of Angels to Continue Pac-10 Play

This Week

The 14th-ranked Arizona State Women's Tennis Team (13-5) will

hit the road again this weekend, heading to Hollywood to take on

the seventh-ranked UCLA Bruins and the eleventh-ranked USC

Women of Troy.

Last time out saw the Sun Devils come out strong in the

fi rst

match of the weekend as they easily put away the Cougars of

Washington State 5-2 before turning around to be surprised by

the Huskies of Washington the next day in Seattle in a gritty 4-3

loss.

The Big, Bad Bruins

The Sun Devils travel up to L.A. this weekend to face the 7thranked

UCLA Bruins who currently sit on an 15-5 overall record

and an 4-1 Pac-10 record. Their big names include the 11thranked

Rita Zalameda, a senior from Los Angeles with a 20-12

overall singles record and an 11-9 duel record. Earlier this year

the Sun Devils got the best of the Bruins in their home turf of

Tempe, Ariz., where they bested UCLA 4-3.

Trojan Horse

No. 11 USC enters the weekend with a 15-7 record and are coming

off tough losses to ranked conference opponents Stanford

and Cal. Making a racket on the Husky line-up is 10th-ranked

Amanda Fink who comes in with a 27-10 overall record and 16-7

duel record. In addition, the Women of Troy have

five other singles

players ranked in the nation, making them a potent 1-6 line-up.

No slouch in doubles either, they boast the #6 team in the nation

of Amanda Fink and Gabriela Niculescu who hold a 27-10 overall

and 16-6 duel record. Last time out the Women of Troy bested the

Sun Devils in Tempe 5-2.
