TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State first baseman Brett Wallace, who was named the Pac-10 Player of the Year, has been named a Louisville Slugger First Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball. Wallace is one of five Sun Devils honored by the publication. LHP Josh Satow was named a Second Team All-American, while RHP Mike Leake, 2B Eric Sogard and OF Ike Davis were all named Third Team All-Americans.
Wallace (Sonoma, Calif.) currently leads the Pac-10 in batting average (.425), RBI (73) and home runs (15). He helped lead the Sun Devils to the Pac-10 championship and a #5 National Seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Satow, Leake, Sogard and Davis all joined Wallace on the All-Pac-10 team, released last week. Sogard was also a Third Team Collegiate Baseball All-American in 2006, and was named the Pac-10's Defensive Player of the Year this season.
The five players honored with All-American status is the most for ASU since the Sun Devils had six different players earn the distinction in 2003.
The Sun Devils open the Tempe Regional on Friday night, when they take on Monmouth. First pitch is at 7 p.m. from Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark.
