Baseball's Jason Jarvis Cleared By NCAA

March 23, 2007

TEMPE, Ariz. - Jason Jarvis, a freshman right hander from Scottsdale, Ariz., has been cleared by the NCAA to join the Arizona State Sun Devil baseball team, head coach Pat Murphy announced today. Jarvis, who transferred to Arizona State from Chandler-Gilbert Community College in December, had been awaiting clearance from the NCAA, who was reviewing his eligibility.

"I want to thank the entire ASU athletic department for the hard work they put in to get Jason cleared," said Murphy. "(VP of Athletics) Lisa Love, (Senior Associate AD) Don Bocchi, (Associate AD) Bill Kennedy, (Assistant AD, Compliance) Lyla Clerry, (Faculty Athletic Representative) Myles Lynk, (Director of Baseball Operations) Graham Rossini and everyone else who worked so diligently on this case. They did a tremendous job."

Jarvis is expected to immediately join the team in Los Angeles this weekend, where the Sun Devils open Pac-10 play against USC in a three-game series. The Sun Devils and Trojans square off tonight at 7 p.m. from Dedeaux Field in Los Angeles. FSN Arizona will televise the game live.
