TEMPE, Ariz. - Four Arizona State University football players have been named to The Sporting News 2006 preseason All-Pacific-10 Conference team, announced by the publication. TE Zach Miller (Jr., Phoenix), OT Andrew Carnahan (Sr., Hereford, Texas) and KR Terry Richardson (Sr., Corona, Calif.) were named to the First-Team, while RB Keegan Herring (So., Peoria, Ariz.) was named to the Second-Team.
Miller, who was the Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in 2004, was named a PlayboyAll-American earlier this year. Last season he caught 38 passes for 476 yards and four touchdowns in 10 games. The Sporting News has Miller listed as the third-best tight end in the nation.
Carnahan appeared in nine games along the Sun Devil offensive line in 2005, playing through numerous injuries and ailments. He was named to ESPN.com's All-Mayday Team, an award given to players who demonstrate toughness throughout a college football season.
Richardson returned 22 punts a season ago, gaining 337 yards and scoring two touchdowns. He also returned 23 kickoffs for 629 yards. At the wide receiver spot, Richardson made 37 receptions for 495 yards and five scores. He was named First-Team All-Pac-10 as a kick returner last season, and was also named a Second-Team All-American by Sports Illustrated.
Herring set the school's freshman running record, gaining 870 yards on 158 carries with six touchdowns during his debut season in Tempe. He earned Honorable Mention Freshman All-American honors by the Sporting News.
