Boone And Hancock Earn Pac-10 All-Academic Honors

TEMPE, Ariz. (www.thesundevils.com) -- Arizona State University junior April Boone (Seattle, Wash.) has been named to the Pacific-10 Conference All-Academic Second Team for gymnastics, announced today by Commissioner Tom Hansen. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average (GPA) and be either a starter or significant contributor.

Boone has accumulated an overall GPA of 3.33 and is majoring in management. In 2005, she was a Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention. Against Iowa State, Boone scored ASU's only 10 on the vault this season. Boone is ranked 17th nationally in the all-around, tied for 13th on the floor exercise and tied for 24th on the vault. Sophomore Josie Hancock (Mesa, Ariz.) was recognized as a Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention.

The No. 11 ASU gymnastics team is set to compete in the North Central Regional Championships to be held Saturday, April 8 at 6:00 p.m. CT at Iowa State University. Other teams competing in the regional include Iowa State, Arizona, Denver, Minnesota and Brigham Young.
