Arizona State University head football coach Dirk Koetter and wide receivers coach Darryl Jackson visited Sun Devil recruit Angelo Richardson at the Kaiser Permanente Rehabilitation Center in Vallejo, Calif. on March 9.
Coach Koetter had the following to share from his visit:
"Angelo wants everyone to know that he intends to keep fighting to `get back on his feet.' His spirit was good, and Coach Jackson and I watched him go through one of his rehabilitation classes.
"Angelo was struck by a .45 caliber bullet that did a lot of damage to his lung and ribs. Although the bullet did not actually hit the spinal cord, the trauma caused a lot of pressure, swelling and bleeding around the spinal column. Angelo does not have feeling in his legs at this time and faces a long and difficult road back to good health, but he is a great competitor as was witnessed Thursday at the rehabilitation center.
"We all need to keep Angelo, and his mother Kimberly, in our thoughts and prayers. For those who have his phone/text numbers, he still takes calls, but has to limit them due to his rehabilitation schedule. Letters are a better way to go."
