Paul Reber Named ITA West Region Assistant Coach of the Year

TEMPE, Ariz. - For the second time in the past five years, Arizona State University women's tennis assistant coach Paul Reber has been named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Assistant Coach of the Year for the West Region, the ITA recently announced.

 

Reber, who earned his first ITA coaching honor in 2001, just concluded his ninth season under head coach Sheila McInerney. During Reber's nine seasons in Tempe, he has been instrumental in helping lead the Sun Devils into postseason action all nine years, including a spot into the Sweet 16 eight times and the quarterfinals three times.

A native of Kamloops, British Columbia, Reber was a four-year letter winner on the men's tennis team at Arizona State from 1992-96. With Reber, ASU advanced to regional play three times, including a trip to the Sweet 16 in 1995. He ended his collegiate career with a 58-58 singles record, including a career-high 20 singles victories in 1994-95. Reber posted a 51-38 doubles mark with a season-best 23-15 record in 1994-95. He was the 1991 Canadian Junior Doubles Champion and won the singles championship the following year.
