TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State University football recruit Chris McGaha has been named an Old Spice Red Zone Player of the Year, joining an elite group of 50 players from across the country to achieve the annual honor. A two-way player for Moon Valley High School, McGaha will join the Sun Devils in time for the upcoming 2005 season.

While the game of football is played over 100 yards, true character and determination are often defined in the Red Zone. The Old Spice Red Zone High School Football Player of the Year program uniquely recognizes those high school football players who elevate their play and that of their teammates in the Red Zone. The Red Zone athlete embodies and exemplifies leadership and performance. He's the one player the coach looks to when the game is truly on the line.

"I am excited about the award because it appeared in USA Today. Not too many across the nation got this award. I am pretty happy," McGaha said of winning the award.

McGaha was nominated by his high school coach and selected by the Red Zone Judging Committee from a large pool of nominees from more than 4,500 participating high school football teams to receive this honor. He is honored as one of 50 players across America who stood out among their peers for their exceptional performance in the Red Zone.

"Any time we need to score we go to Chris McGaha. He is quite simply the most dominant athlete in Arizona high school football in the 2004 season," said Moon Valley High School Head Football Coach Roger Britson.

As one of the 50 Old Spice Red Zone Players of the Year, McGaha was honored in a full-page congratulatory announcement in USA Today on Thursday, February 3, 2005 along with the newspaper's coverage of National Letter of Intent Signing Day.

Entering its fifth year, the Old Spice Red Zone Player of the Year program is sponsored annually by Procter & Gamble, the makers of Old Spice Red Zone Deodorant. The program was created and is managed by 360 Youth, LLC, an Alloy company.
