Sun Devil Gymnasts Selected to Compete in NCAA Regional Meet

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State University gymnastic team was selected to compete in the regional portion of the 2005 NCAA Championships, it was announced Monday. The Sun Devils are one of six teams set to compete in the South Central Region to be held April 9 inside the Bob Devaney Sports Center on the campus of the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Neb. The event opens at 7 p.m. CT (8 p.m. MT) with the Top 2 teams advancing to the NCAA Championships April 21-23 in Auburn, Ala.

The Sun Devils, led by 2004 NCAA Balance Beam champion and 2005 co-Pac-10 champion in the same event Ashley Kelly, are seeded fifth in the region and will be in competition with top seed Nebraska, second-seeded Michigan, third-seeded Arizona, fourth-seeded Missouri and sixth-seeded Illinois. Several individual competitors will compete in the region including student-athletes from Southeast Missouri State, Illinois-Chicago, Northern Illinois and Texas Women's University.
