Men's Golfers Reavie and Canizares Earn All-America Honors

Arizona State senior Chez Reavie has earned second-team All-America honors while sophomore Alejandro Canizares has earned third-team honors from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

It marks the third All-America honor for Reavie, who earned Honorable Mention in 2001 and 2003. Reavie posted a team-leading 71.05 stroke average this year and had five top-five and eight top-10 finishes. In his career, he posted 22 top-10 finishes in 43 career events and had a 72.05 stroke average.

Canizares earned first-team honors last year after winning the 2003 NCAA individual championship. He had a 71.38 stroke average in 2003-2004 and had eight top-10 finishes and added three top-fives, including his third title in two seasons by earning medalist honors at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational on April 9-10. He also has posted a 3.9 grade point average in his first two years at Arizona State.

Matt Every and Camilo Villegas of Florida, Wake Forest's Bill Haas, Jason Hartwick of Texas, Kentucky's John Holmes, Brock Mackenzie of Washington, UNLV's Ryan Moore, Chris Nallen of Arizona, Lamar's Chris Stroud and Peter Tomasulo of California were previously named to the PING All-America first team.

Second team selections included Reavie, Jack Ferguson and Matt Hendrix of Clemson, Brad Heaven of Toledo, UCLA's Travis Johnson, Anthony Kim of Oklahoma, New Mexico's Spencer Levin, Jeff Overton of Indiana, Pepperdine's Michael Putnam Oklahoma State's Casey Wittenberg.

Canizares, UTEP's Chris Baryla, Colorado State's Martin Laird and Nolan Martin, Luke List of Vanderbilt, TCU's Adam Meyer, Aron Price of Georgia Southern, Duke's Nathan Smith, Nicholas Thompson of Georgia Tech and Colorado's Kane Webber were named to the PING All-America third team.

A total of 39 golfers were named to the honorable mention team.
