TEMPE, Ariz. (www.TheSunDevils.com) -- Arizona State baseball players Dustin Pedroia and Travis Buck were named to the NCAA Fullerton Regional All-Tournament Team.
Buck (Richland, Wash.) hit .500 (7-for-14) in the three games at Goodwin Field, including going 7-for-10 (.700) in the first two games against Pepperdine and Minnesota. The sophomore right fielder finished the season second on the team in hitting at .373 (84-for-225) with 16 doubles, nine home runs and 58 RBI. Buck has been invited to the USA Baseball National Team Trials later this month in Durham, N.C.
Pedroia (Woodland, Calif.) inked his named on a regional all-tournament team for the third straight year. He also earned all-regional honors in 2002 (Mesa) and was the 2003 Tempe Regional Most Outstanding player. The junior All-American shortstop hit .364 (4-for-11) in the regional with two runs scored and a stolen base. He end the year second in the Pac-10 in hitting at .393 (96-for-244) and is seventh in ASU's record books with a .384 career batting average. Pedroia was selected in the second round of the 2004 MLB Amateur Draft by the Boston Red Sox.
