The Arizona State men's golf team is ranked fifth in the latest Golf Coaches Association poll and also is ranked sixth by Golfstat and seventh by Golfweek. Senior Chez Reavie is ranked 15th by Golfweek while defending NCAA champion Alejandro Canizares is No. 31.
The Sun Devils play host to its 32nd annual Thunderbird Invitational this weekend at Karsten Golf Course, with 36 holes being played Friday and the final 18 on Saturday. ASU has won the event 11 of the past 15 years, including last year's tournament-record 40-under 824. Teams ranked in the GCAA poll playing at Karsten this weekend include fifth-ranked ASU, ninth-ranked Arizona, No. 11 UNLV, No. 12 BYU, No. 16 California, No. 17 New Mexico, No. 20 USC and No. 22 Washington.
ASU has won three tournaments this year, matching the most by a Sun Devil squad since the 2000-2001 team also won three. The 1999-2000 team won four tournaments.
