Tempe, AZ- The Arizona State Women's Tennis Team came off a tough loss to No. 1 Stanford, only to meet with yet another Top-10 seeded school on Saturday afternoon at Tempe's Whiteman Tennis Center.
The Sun Devils faced off with the No. 9 Cal Golden Bears, and though they gave the Bears a tough match, they were unable to pull off a win with a 5-2 loss.
The match started off tough for the Devils with only the Freshman duo of Sabrina Capannolo and Kady Pooler taking an 8-5 win in doubles over Cal's Catherine Lynch and Monica Wiesner.
The Devils fought back well in singles with Sabrina Capannolo and Lauren Colalillo both coming off with wins.
Though both Joslynn Burkett and Wendy Piecka pushed their Cal opponents, both nationally ranked, to three matches apiece, they were unable to pull out wins.
The Devils fall to 3-5 on the season with two tough opponents, No. 13 USC and No. 11 UCLA coming into town on March 12th and 13th.
Both matches will count towards Pac-10 standings.
