Tempe, AZ- The Arizona State Women's Tennis Team played excellent Tuesday afternoon as they showed talent and confidence in their 6-1 take-down of the No. 22 Crimson of Harvard.
The Devils started the day off well in doubles with Kady Pooler and Lauren Colalillo cruising to an 8-2 win over Courtney Bergman and Preethi Mukundan.
Their teammates, Rebecca Rankin and Joslynn Burkett followed behind them taking an 8-4 win and the doubles point from the Crimson.
In singles, the Devils pulled together to take five of the six matches.
Sole senior on the team, Cindy Sureephong came in with a quick 6-2, 6-1 win over Alexis Martire.
Almost all of her fellow Devils followed her lead, with a spectacular win by junior Lauren Colalillo who pushed every set against Melissa Anderson into a tiebreaker and came from behind to win it.
Harvard is coming off of a tough 6-1 loss from Fresno State, where the only point scored by the Crimson was by Preethi Mukundan, who was the sole point-winner for Harvard today as she topped Kady Pooler in the No. 6 spot, 7-6(8), 6-3.
The Sun Devils move to 5-10 on the year while handing Havard their 7th loss of the year leaving a record of 7-7 for the Crimson.
The Devils are ready to gear up for their last two home matches of the season this weekend with both the No. 6 University of Washington and the No. 54 Washington State University rolling into town on Friday and Saturday.
The match against Washington on Friday is set to kick off at 1:30 p.m. at Tempe Whiteman's Tennis Center.
