TEMPE, Ariz. - Three former Sun Devil All-Americans turned in tournament wins this weekend, including Grace Park who won the first LPGA major championship of her career.
Park's win came at the Kraft Nabisco Championship in Rancho Mirage, Calif., while Chris Hanell won the Madeira Island Open on the European Tour and Jimin Kang won the Next Generation FUTURES Golf Classic in Tampa Bay, Fla.
Park, the 1999 NCAA Champion and Collegiate Player of the Year, captured a one-stroke victory in her first major championship win. She vaulted to the top of ADT Official Money List with the victory.
Hanell, the 1997 Collegiate Player of the Year, became the fourth Swedish player in 12 years to win the Madeira Island Open by one stroke. With the win, Hallen earns a European Tour exemption for the next two seasons.
Kang, a former Sun Devil All-American and the 1999 U.S. Women's Amateur runner-up, captured her first tournament title in two years with the win in Tampa Bay. Kang claimed a one-stroke victory in the tournament, her first professional victory since winning the M&T Bank Loretto FUTURES Golf Classic in 2002 in her professional debut.
