Muth, Cox And Germaine Earn Pac-10 All-Academic Accolades

March 29, 2004

Junior Kari Muth of Mesa, Arizona headlines a group of three Arizona State University gymnasts who have earned academic honors from the Pacific-10 Conference, ASU Director of Athletics Gene Smith announced Monday.

Muth, who was named to the 2004 Pacific-10 All-Academic First-Team for the second straight season, carries a 3.96 grade-point average in Finance at ASU. Muth is a mainstay for the Sun Devils on the uneven bars, the balance beam and the floor exercise.

Also earning classroom kudos from the league office were seniors Maggie Germaine and Jada Cox, who both made honorable mention All-Academic.

Germaine, also of Mesa, earned Pac-10 All-Academic recognition for the third year in a row. She was Second-Team All-Academic member in 2002 and First-Team in 2003. Germaine, an all-arounder for ASU, sports a 3.44 in kinesiology.

Cox, of Union City, Georgia, has a 3.09 in psychology at ASU. This is the first time Cox has been named to the All-Academic team in her career. Cox has been very consistent on vault, balance bean and floor exercise in 2004.
