Austin, TX - The Arizona State Women's Tennis Team played yet another tough opponent on Sunday afternoon facing the No. 11, 12-2 Longhorns of Texas.
The match began well for the Devils as they were able to take the doubles point from the Longhorns.
First up Lauren Colalillo and Kady Pooler came up with a tough 9-8 (7-4) win over Texas's Katie Ruckert and Kendra Strohm.
Fellow Devils Joslynn Burkett and Sabrina Capannolo followed up with a 9-7 victory over Longhorns Kelly Baritot and Ristine Olson.
Things went downhill for the Devils as soon as singles started, with the Longhorns stepping up to sweep the first four matches to win the match.
Freshman Sabrina Capannolo played well and took home a singles win over Kelly Baritot with a 7-6, 3-6, 6-4 score.
Red-hot Devil Lauren Colalillo also scored a singles win for ASU with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Texas's Ristine Olson, taking her singles win streak to eight in-a-row.
ASU falls to 4-9 on the season with a home match against the No. 17 Tulane Green Wave (14-1) coming up on Saturday March 27th at Tempe's Whiteman Tennis Center at 12:00 p.m.
