WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Arizona State women's golf team finished 18th at the 2003 NCAA Championships, held May 20-23 on the par 72, 6,225-yard Kampen Course of the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.
The Sun Devils shot a 22-over 310 in Friday's final round to end up 18th with a four-round total of 98-over 1250 (320-311-309-310). After leading in all four rounds, Southern California won the NCAA team title, shooting an eight-over 296 on Friday for a total of 45-over 1197. The Women of Troy captured a 15-stroke victory over second-place Pepperdine (1212), while Texas (1213), Ohio State (1214), UCLA (1216) and Oklahoma State (1216) rounded out the top five.
Individually, senior Blair O'Neal was the highest finisher for the Sun Devils, turning in a tie for 36th with a four-day total of 18-over 306 (76-75-76-79). Other Sun Devils included senior Gaelle Truet who tied for 55th with a four-round total of 310 (80-76-79-75), while sophomore Erin Tone tied for 97th at 322 (79-86-75-82). Freshman Alissa Kuczka tied for 106th with a total of 326 (93-78-79-76), and senior Melanie Hunt finished in a tie for 115th at 330 (85-82-83-80).
USC's Mikaela Parmlid won the NCAA individual championship with a total of nine-over 297, defeating Florida's Andrea Vander Lende in the first hole of a sudden-death playoff.
