Gymnast Maggie Germaine Named Second-Team All-American

May 13, 2003

Arizona State University junior gymnast Maggie Germaine has been named a second-team all-American on the floor exercise by the National Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches Association, it was announced Tuesday.

Germaine, of Mesa, Arizona, tied for eighth on the floor exercise with a 9.75 at the NCAA Championships, April 23 in Lincoln, Nebraska. By virtue of her finish, she was named a second-team all-American. ASU finished ninth at the 2003 NCAA Championships.

Earlier this year, Germaine posted the second highest all-around score in ASU history, a 39.775 versus UCLA on February 16. She has posted seven of the top 18 all-time all-around scores in Sun Devil history.

Germaine joins teammate Ashley Ellsberry, a senior, as a second-team all-Aemrican in 2003.
