Ojai, California- The 2003 Pac-10 Individual Championships rolled on Friday afternoon, but sadly left the Sun Devils out of contention.
Two Sun Devils advanced to quarterfinals in singles, while both of the Devil's doubles teams fell to two Washington duos.
Adria Engel had a busy and unfortunate day as she played tough in the main draw singles quarterfinals, but ultimately fell to the 39th-ranked Maja Mlakar of Arizona in a 7-5, 6-4 bout.
Engel also paired up with sophomore Lauren Colalillo in the main draw for tennis, but they were unable to get out of the first round as Colleen Gray and Dea Sumantri of Washington beat them 8-5.
Next up in the main draw first round doubles were the Devil duo of Mhairi Brown and Cindy Sureephong who faced the Husky duo of Claire Carter and Darija Klaic, who in the end were too much for the Devils as they lost 8-4.
The other match of the day was sophomore Joslynn Burkett against Jody Scheldt of Cal in the quarterfinals of the invitational draw of singles, but as was the theme for the Devils today, Burkett also fell in a 6-3, 6-3 match.
The tournament continues on until Sunday, and a back draw will be played, the pairings and line-ups have yet to be determined.
