Arizona State men's basketball freshman Ike Diogu has earned Basketball Times First-Team All-Freshman honors, the magazine announced Tuesday. Only Carmelo Anthony of Syracuse and Diogu were first-team freshman selections who led their teams to the NCAA Tournament.
Diogu, the Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and the only freshman named to the All-Pac-10 team, averaged 19.9 points and 9.6 rebounds in his final 14 games to lead ASU to a fourth-place finish in the Pac-10 and its first 20-win season since 1995. He posted 12 20-point games on the year and was one of just three Pac-10 players to post double-digits in every game on the year. His 19.0 points per game mark on the season is the third-best by a freshman in Pac-10 history.
Diogu also earned All-Rockies selection, as he was the only freshman on the five-man team.
ASU advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and finished 20-12.
