Robbie McClellan Named Pac-10 Pitcher Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- UCLA senior left fielder Adam Berry has been named Pac-10 Baseball Player of the Week and ARIZONA STATE junior right-hander Robbie McClellan has been named Pac-10 Baseball Pitcher of the Week for Mar. 5-12, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

McClellan, from Liberal, Kan., became the first Sun Devil to notch back-to-back complete games since 1999, striking out a career-high 10 batters in a seven-inning win against UNLV. He allowed just four hits and did not allow a run in the 10-0 win over the Rebels. McClellan is tied for the team lead in wins with a 4-2 record and has a 2.10 ERA in 30.0 innings pitched. Has struck out 36 batters and walked only 14.

Berry, from Richardson, Texas, hit .500 (9-for-18) with four home runs and 11 RBI in four games last week. Berry put together multi-hit performances at the plate in each game. He hit two home runs in the Bruins second game at Cal State Northridge and added an outfield assist to throw a runner out at home plate. Berry also was a perfect 2-for-2 in stolen bases.

The Player of the Week honor is the first for Berry in his career, and the 36th selection all-time for UCLA. The Pitcher of the Week honor is the first for McClellan in his career, and the 43rd selection all-time for Arizona State.

Also nominated for Player of the Week were Dustin Pedroia, ASU, Jason Cooper, STAN. Also nominated for Pitcher of the Week were Brian Montalbo, CAL, Jared Sanders, OSU, John Hudgins, STAN, Casey Janssen, UCLA, Shawn Kohn, WASH.
