The year is over a few weeks too early if you ask me. College is done? Has it been four years already? I guess it's true time flies when you're having fun. Four tremendous years as an Arizona State Sun Devil. It went by so fast. It seems like yesterday I was sitting in my very first ASU Baseball meeting, nervous, anxious, not knowing what to expect. And now, it's all over. Four years of memories, four years of stories, four years of triumphs and heartache, four years of everlasting friendships.
1998
What a start! The College World Series in my very first year, what an experience. Never will forget the feelings of playing in the Championship Game. It was awesome. I'll remember the diversity of characters on that team Mikel Moreno, Andrew Beinbrink, Phil Lowery, Michael Collins, Richy Leon, Rudy Arguelles all who helped me make the transition that first year.
1999
It was after this year that I realized how special '98 and the CWS really were. Being left out of post-season was a shocker (not knowing any better, I thought we would go to Omaha every year).
2000
Truly a special year. To be able to sustain the level of play that we maintained throughout the entire year was amazing. Not only did Mitch Jones and I have career years, the other 7 guys in our line-up had tremendous years. For me it was my favorite year the year I had the most fun. Our team had the feeling that we couldn't be beaten every tie we stepped on the field. Unfortunately, we fell one day short of Omaha.
2001
The last go round. The year had its ups and downs, seemed like we just couldn't get over the hump. All in all a good season. We lose several great Sun Devils Phelps, Lopez, Switzer, Conrad, etc., but are introduced to the new generation of players Allen, Esposito, Klusman, West, McKenna, Garrabrants, etc. A solid group to pass along the ASU Baseball Tradition. The future is bright for the Devils.
Lastly, I would like to thank the fans and supporters of ASU Baseball. It's been an honor and a privilege to play for ASU and in front of you fans for four years. The support you've given me and the team was terrific. Keep up the good work.
