Track and Field Breaks Into National Rankings

TEMPE, Ariz. - Following their sweep of in-state rivals Arizona and NAU last weekend, Arizona State's track and field squads broke into the national rankings this week, with the men tied for 12th and the women tied for 21st according the latest Trackwire.com poll released May 8.

The Sun Devil men, ranked for just the second time during the outdoor season, are joined by USC and Texas A&M in the 12th position with 20 points. ASU's women, making their first appearance in the poll since the end of the indoor season, are tied for 21st with Missouri and Mississippi with 13 points. The Trackwire.com poll is intended to project the outcome of the NCAA Championships.

In the USTCA Team-Power Rankings as of May 9, the ASU women are ranked fourth while the men are ranked seventh. The Team Power Rankings are configured with a point system based on quality of athletic performance, team depth and dual meet scoring potential.
