Reigning U.S. Amateur Champion Jeff Quinney was selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America to represent the United States in the 2001 Palmer Cup presented by CSFBdirect.
The Arizona State senior joins the U.S. team that was announced April 30. Team members are: Nick Cassini, University of Georgia, Erik Compton, University of Georgia, John Engler, Clemson University, Lucas Glover, Clemson University, Scott Lander, UNLV, Bryce Molder, Georgia Tech, Jeff Quinney, Arizona State University and Chris Wisler, East Tennessee State University. The addition of Quinney completes the eight-man roster.
"I am thrilled to have been extended an invitation to participate in this year's Palmer Cup. The other players playing represent the best in college golf, and to be part of this team is an honor," Quinney said.
The U.S. players will compete with their counterparts from Great Britain and Ireland in a Ryder Cup-style event June 27-28 at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J.
Baltusrol was the site of the 2000 U.S. Amateur, which Quinney won last August.
Nominations were submitted by GCAA member coaches, and selections were made by the GCAA All-America committee.
A tape delayed two-hour highlight show will air on The Golf Channel on September 6 at 8 p.m. ET. The show will re-air at 11 p.m. on September 6 and again at 9 a.m. on September 15.
Players for the Great Britain and Ireland team will be announced on May 7.
