Top-Seeded Adria Engel Leads Women's Tennis On Day Three Of Pac-10 Championships

TEMPE, Ariz. -Top-seeded ASU sophomore Adria Engel, currently ranked No. 8 in the country, advanced to tomorrow's Pac-10 Championship final with a semifinal win today in Ojai, California.

Engel defeated UCLA's Sara Walker in three sets, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1, to advance to tomorrow's final singles match against Cal's Raquel Kops-Jones to determine this year's Pac-10 champion. Engel and Kops-Jones will go head-to-head tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m. (PST).

In Pac-10 doubles quarterfinal play, Adria Engel and Faye DeVera fell to Arizona's Debbie Larocque and Laresa Marino, 9-8, but ASU's Celena McCoury/Mhairi Brown tandem downed Cal's Nicole Havlicek and Jieun Jacobs, 9-8, before falling to UCLA's Lauren Fisher and Petya Marinova in the semifinals, 8-1. In the doubles back draw, ASU's Cindy Sureephong and Megan Yeats defeated Oregon's Monika Gieczys and Courtney Nagle, 8-4, to advance to the semifinals.

Doubles Back Draw, Saturday Sureephong/Yeats (ASU) def. Gieczys/Nagle (UO), 8-4
