TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State shortstop Dennis Wyrick was named a third-team freshman All-American by the publication, Baseball America.
Wyrick, a native of Azusa, Calif., played in 53 games, starting 51 at shortstop. Wyrick helped to propel Arizona State to its first Pac-10 title since 1991, batting .317 with 51 hits, including two doubles, two triples with 42 runs scored and 29 RBIs.
This is Wyrick's second freshman All-American team selection this year, earlier garnering honorable mention accolades by Louisville Slugger.
