In your opinion, what concerns did you have against Texas. Your team
should have great success in the near future and I have always admired ASU
baseball. What seperates the Pac-10 from the rest of college baseball,
in regards to tradition, exposure and the ability to make it to Omaha. Thank
you.
Coach Murphy: Losing Mike Lopez really hurt us. He is key to our infield defense. The Pac-10 is intense and every team is very good. Playing good competition every year makes you very resilient against every team.

I am a HUGE fan of ASU baseball and have
really come to love the game of baseball
as a result of watching you and your
teams on the field. Because of this, I have
recently considered the possibility of becoming
a coach at some level. Do have any advice on
how and/or where to start the process?
Coach Murphy: The best thing to do would be to schedule an appointment and myself or one of my assistants would be happy to help guide you through the process.

I was just wondering what the future looks like for your catcher Trent
Pratt. I noticed that he didn't play much this year as opposed to last
Year and wondered about next year?
Coach Murphy: Trent needs to transfer to guarantee full-time play. He is a great kid with great tools, but with Casey Myers being the best pitcher handler, Trent needs to get more time. His junior year will be his draft year.

What advice could you give a catcher that wants to improve to go on to the
next level after high school. What would impress you as a coach?
Coach Murphy: Learn how to handle pitchers well and catch every ball. You have to be able to lead the defense and work hard every day. Watch major league catchers pitch-for-pitch on TV and imitate them as you watch the game. Keep working hard and we'll see you at camp.

I didn't think it was fair for ASU to have to host a high-seed team like
Texas in their regional. I listened to the games on the Internet, and thought it was a tough luck loss. Having to play Texas 3 times, while teams like LSU (playing Monroe, New Orleans, and Jackson), Penn St., Miami, Houston, and others all had
much weaker draws. I thought that only USC and Stanford had tough opponents in
their bracket. Didn't you think that ASU deserved to get a better draw being the 4th ranked team in the country?
Coach Murphy: Obviously in retrospect Texas was too good to be in our regional, but eventually you need to beat a team of that caliber in the regional. We have no excuses...we had our opportunities and now we must wait.
